It was two-day gathering that was more than 17 months in the planning. The 2014 G20 Leaders’ Summit brought nearly 4,000 delegates and worldwide attention to Brisbane, Australia. With global demand for access to the proceedings, NEP delivered over 400 hours of coverage via 16 High Definition continuous footage signals to more than 130 Australian and international broadcasters.
NEP established two G20 Summit firsts in delivering these meetings to the world. First, we deployed four concurrent, fully remote productions, controlled and switched from a central control room in the IMC—a solution that minimized travel and the ensuing security delays. Second, in association with content partner SBS, we established two fully produced, ready-to-air channels delivering maximum format flexibility (HD, SD and NTSC).
Finally, NEP provided an in-house 24/7 information channel, a unique studio environment within the IMC offering live backdrop images of the Brisbane cityscape on five giant 4K displays, and logged every second of coverage in real time for immediate availability.
